[Safety Notice] An Update on WePlay’s Protections for Minors (2025.06 – 2026.04)

Introduction:

Since launching Youth Protection Mode 2.0 in June 2025, we have continued to strengthen our work across age based separation, protections in public spaces, enforcement against high risk behavior, and measures to prevent serious violators from returning to the platform. Our goal is to create a safer social experience for minors on WePlay.
At WePlay, protecting minors remains one of the most important parts of our safety work. In June 2025, we launched Youth Protection Mode 2.0, introducing systemwide improvements across minor account identification, risk alerts, anti harassment protections, parental controls, and account governance. From June 2025 through April 2026, we continued to build on that foundation with further updates in several key areas. These include strengthening age based separation across core scenarios, reducing the public exposure of minors, improving how we identify and respond to high risk behavior, and enhancing our ability to trace and continuously block accounts involved in serious violations.
These updates are guided by a clear goal: to give minors clearer boundaries, more timely protection, and a safer, more stable experience on WePlay.

Strengthening age based separation across more social scenarios

We are expanding protections for minors across more of WePlay’s core social scenarios, including voice rooms, group chats, friend recommendations, and the Square.
This allows the platform to better identify age discrepancies caused by incorrect or misleading birth date information, and to strengthen separation between minors and adults in relevant spaces. By doing so, we can help reduce the risk of potentially unsafe contact between minors and unfamiliar adults.
For us, protecting minors is not only about responding after a problem appears. It is also about reducing the chance of inappropriate contact before it begins. We will continue improving our identification capabilities and age based protection mechanisms to create clearer boundaries for users in different age groups.

Reducing unnecessary exposure of minors in public spaces

We are also continuing to strengthen protections for minors in public facing areas of the platform.
In spaces such as voice room covers and group chat covers, our systems can automatically identify and limit the display of minors' images. When content meets the relevant criteria, we may replace or otherwise process that content to reduce the public visibility of minors and better protect their privacy and sense of safety.
This update is designed to create stronger safeguards in places where users may be more visible to strangers, helping reduce unnecessary attention and potential risks associated with public exposure.

Creating a more complete response system for high risk behavior

Alongside scenario based protections, we are continuing to improve how we identify and respond to high risk behavior.
Today, WePlay is building a more stable governance path for risks involving minors. This includes proactive safety education, timely intervention during risky interactions, ongoing follow up, and stronger enforcement for serious violations.
Depending on the level of risk, the platform may take measures such as reminders, restrictions, or interruption of interactions. When an account is confirmed to pose a serious risk, we take stricter action in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and platform rules.
As a result of these ongoing improvements, high risk behavior involving minors on the platform declined by more than 60 percent in the first quarter of 2026 compared with previous levels. This shows that earlier detection and faster intervention can meaningfully improve protection outcomes.

Expanding the scope of detecting risks involving minors

We are also broadening the range of behaviors and signals we use to detect risks involving minors so that potential issues can be identified earlier and addressed more quickly.
This includes stronger detection and interception of abnormal interactions, inappropriate contact, and other behaviors that may affect the safety of minors. By continuing to refine our governance strategies, we aim to bring more risks into view at an earlier stage, reduce missed detections, and improve overall response efficiency.
When it comes to protecting minors, speed matters. The earlier we identify risk, the more effectively we can intervene before it escalates.

Preventing serious violators from returning to the platform

To further reduce the possibility of serious violators returning to the platform after enforcement, we have introduced a related account tracing and automated enforcement mechanism.
For accounts that were previously banned for harming minors, the platform can use relevant risk signals to identify, intercept, and take action on accounts with high risk associations. This helps strengthen our ongoing response to serious violations, reduces the likelihood that bad actors can return by switching accounts, and creates a more complete governance framework for identification, enforcement, tracing, and blocking.
Our goal is not only to ensure that serious violations are identified and addressed, but also to do as much as possible to prevent those risks from happening again.

Continuing to improve the overall protection experience for minors

In addition to the updates above, we are continuing to improve product experiences related to the protection of minors. This includes:
•
Improving the coverage and usability of Youth Protection Mode;
•
Enhancing appeals and feedback channels;
•
Continuing to refine age identification and risk governance capabilities.
Protecting minors is long term work. It cannot be completed through a single update. We will continue investing in product, technology, and governance capabilities to strengthen our protections, and we will keep listening to feedback from users, parents, and the wider community.
We want WePlay to be not only a platform that brings people joy through connection and entertainment, but also one that approaches safety with care, responsibility, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Thank you for helping us protect a community built on joy and goodwill. If you encounter any issues related to the protection of minors while using WePlay, please report them through the in app reporting channels or contact our dedicated minor protection channel at youth@weplayapp.com
